2009 Bull Sale Report

Clunie Range to $13,000, 100% Clearance, Average $4,800.

Our 2009 Annual Sale was held on Friday 7th August at "Springfield" Wallangra with a very solid result, achieving a 100% clearance with 82 bulls selling at an average of $4800.

The top price bull on the day was Clunie Range Cruiser C177 selling for $13,000 to Alan and Coralee Gilogly of Terri Hi Hi. Alan Gilogly, another repeat buyer, described the bull as one of the best he'd purchased. Cruiser C177, was by homebred sire Clunie Range X33 who has been performing well for the stud. Cruiser had outstanding EBV's and was also one of the deepest thickest bulls that the stud has produced for several years.

Another Clunie Range X33 son sold to Wilano Angus Stud at Dunedoo. Long time supporters of our genetics, the Lane family were extremely happy with Clunie Range Chisel C190 who was equal 2nd top price of $10,000.

One fairly amazing statistic was that 80% of the sale offering went to repeat clients. This is an outstanding testament to our breeding program. One of the most pleasurable parts of this job is getting to know your clients, and as these buyers come back again and again, we get a lot of satisfaction knowing that we are having a positive impact on their herds. We appreciate the confidence that these people have in our cattle and as well as coming back each year, we find that they bring friends and neighbours and we get the chance to start an association with these people as well. It's this type of word of mouth that far exceeds any type of advertising we can pay for.

A large number of bulls went North of the border, with two bulls going as far north as Richmond in North Queensland, and 6 bulls going to Monto. A very strong and supportive group of local cattle producers were active including Oakhurst Grazing who took home 4 bulls to North Star and AL & ED Ubergang who purchased 3 bulls, and Strathbogie Station who secured another 3 bulls adding to a growing Clunie Range Sire battery for their breeding operation.

One of the major discussion points at sale time was just how dry it has been. Unlike a lot of the tablelands at the time and southern areas, almost all of the locations of our client base were enduring dry conditions, which have deteriorated rapidly into dire straights since.

The Guest family would like to thank all buyers, under bidders and agents for contributing to the success of the day.
