Be a guest at the Clunie Range Stud sale.
Clunie Range Angus is owned and operated by the Guest family north-west of Inverell in northern NSW.
Originally located under Mount Clunie, close to the head of the Clarence River in far northern NSW, the Guest family have been involved with Angus cattle for many years prior to the foundation of the stud.
In the early 1900s Hazel Guest's grandfather Henry Standing brought some of the first Angus cattle into the Clarence valley.
Hugh Guest's parents moved out of a dairy herd in the 1960's.
Hugh's uncle, Hugh Mulchay of the well known "Grimstead" herd, began breeding Angus cattle in the 1940s.
"He offered the Guests a unique opportunity to purchase the pick of five "F" heifers that formed the foundation of the Clunie Range Angus Stud.
Today the home base for the herd is in the Coolatai and Wallangra district where the family currently run more than 900 breeders.
Their breeding philosophy is a relatively simple one.
They run breeders under tough conditions to ensure they have a sound, functional, furtile herd.
With the use of large-scale AI and ET programs clients have access to the best genetics, increasing performance in the paddock and feedlot, and producing supior meat quality for consumers.
As a commercially focused herd, progeny and seedstock are produced for the Japanese and Korean markets. To target these markets the Guests produce bulls that have high carcase quality , growth and muscling.
As a self-replacing herd they also place much emphasis on fertility and calving ease. The desire to produce better quality meat has lead them to become involved with the Golden Angus branded beef program. Their bulls are renowned for their evan type, capacity, softness, muscling and balanced EBV's.
